Three Month Therapy Programme for Addiction

Our treatment model is based around the 12 Step philosopsy with CBT (Cognitive Behavioral Therapy). Personalised treatment plans are created for each patient following a thorough assessment.

Recovering from addiction is not a quick fix. Achieving stable recovery requires commitment, time, and persistence both from those seeking treatment and from us as providers. Our treatments and approach are characterised by compassion and respect for those suffering from addiction.

Many of our therapists have personal experience with addiction, in addition to solid training, and know that it is fully possible to recover and live a fulfilled life

This programme can take place online or in-person.

Outpatient Addiction Programme Process

We start with an assessment interview: Our treatment always begins with a thorough assessment of the patient’s issues. Our experience is that it is as important to implement the right measures as it is to do so quickly. Addiction and mental illness are complex and progressive conditions, and to know which intervention would be most effective, both economically and medically, we conduct an assessment and then, in consultation with the patient, agree on a plan.

Treatment Structure:

  • Our basic programme has a fixed price and runs over three months. It can be combined with full-time or part-time work. Shorter treatment interventions are also available.
  • Treatment takes place individually or in groups, or both. Additional services can be added to the basic programme.
  • Individual therapy sessions are especially suitable for those who desire increased discretion and confidentiality in their treatment.
  • Treatment is conducted in central Stockholm, online from your home, or at a residential rehab abroad.

For Relatives: The family and loved ones of people with addiction often live in constant crisis for many years and develop mental health issues and codependency. We offer treatment and support where you can ask questions, discuss challenges, get help setting healthy boundaries, and find ways to feel better regardless of what happens.

For Employers: We have extensive experience in supporting employers with everything from preventive measures and training to investigations and treatment of various types of addiction through both outpatient care and rehabilitation at treatment homes. We treat all types of addiction, whether it involves alcohol, drugs, medication, gambling, etc.

Therapies

Individual therapy
Individual therapy can lead to effective and sustained recovery and can change thinking patterns and behaviours that may lead to relapse. Therapists strive to address deep-rooted personal issues (trauma, grief, abuse) and motivate the patient to achieve and maintain abstinence through Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT), Motivational Enhancement Therapy (MET) and Dialectical Behaviour Therapy (DBT). These are the main methods that help patients explore and address the subconscious issues that trigger addiction.Individual therapy encourages patients to talk about their experiences in a private space that allows them to connect with their therapist while expressing their painful emotions. Being open about the challenging events in their lives is an important factor that can help patients to heal. One-on-one therapy enables people with addiction to overcome shame and share the history of stressful or traumatic situations and to release any negative feelings and thoughts that do not allow them to fully recover.
Group therapy
Group therapy assists people struggling with addiction to make long-lasting changes in their lives that empower them and allows them to grow. Patients learn how their dependence affects them and how to achieve their recovery goals. Patients benefit from support and encouragement from people that went through similar situations, and they can build trust and become more empathetic. By sharing their experiences, patients will be able to overcome addiction and manage any cravings successfully.
12 step programme
The 12-Step programme was created to provide support, encouragement and accountability for people who are willing and motivated to overcome their addiction. The sponsorship model as well as regular group meetings encourage sharing and social support. During this programme, many patients manage to stay on the path of recovery and become clean. Being part of this programme, helped many people to build a more fulfilling and happy life while improving the relationships with their loved ones.
Family Therapy
This therapy supports family members and people affected by addiction to understand the causes of dependency and to increase the wellbeing of the entire family through healthy coping strategies and improved communication techniques. The family therapy sessions allow relatives to share their worries in a gentle and non-judgmental way to smooth the path towards resolution. The counsellor also helps family members to express painful feelings they have gone through.
Sober Coaching
Sober coaching provides discreet, personalised support for those in need. Sober coaching can help patients struggling with alcoholism, drug addiction, gambling or eating disorders. The sober coach’s responsibility is to support clients and make sure they use various coping techniques that prevent relapse. Sober coaching can be convenient, immersive, confidential, and bespoke. People with addiction can engage with a trusted and experienced Stockholms Beroendeklinik sober coach from a few hours up to several months.
Psychiatrist Evaluation
Psychiatrist evaluation involves an examination of the mental status and review of the health history of a patient. Our clinic doctors can conduct physical assessments and may take brain scans to determine the brain damage. Psychiatric treatment may include psychotherapy as well as psychiatric medication. People with dependency enrol in individual and group therapy sessions to understand the root cause of their addiction. The success of the treatment can be determined by the level of physical damage that the addictive substance has caused.
Specialised Therapies
When no longer accessing the addictive substance or engaging in the addictive behaviour, patients show psychological responses such as depression, irritability/ anger, anxiety, mood swings, obsessive thinking or poor judgement. During specialised therapy sessions, the counsellor will work with patients to identify their addictive behaviours, the causes of those behaviours, and develop a treatment plan suited to the patient’s needs and recovery goals. Treating the cause of the addiction increases the chance of recovery.
Experiential Therapies
During experiential therapy, the therapist uses various tools to recreate events from the patient’s past, such as emotionally challenging situations. This type of therapy allows patients to explore blocked painful feelings and to change the thinking patterns that lead to developing addiction. These sessions allow patients to develop a greater ability to manage stress, increased sense of control when cravings kick in, improved relationships, and better communication and interpersonal skills.
Complementary Therapies
Complementary therapies include various natural health approaches to heal the mind and body such as massage therapy, acupuncture, and homeopathic methods. Complementary therapies can balance mental, physical and spiritual health and help patients reconnect with themselves. Through different therapeutic techniques, our experts optimise the mental, physical and spiritual health of our patients, so they enjoy a more healthy and happy life without the need to resort to addictive substances and behaviours.

What to expect

Stockholms Beroendeklinik is there to meet every patient’s clinical and recovery support needs. Patients will complete a comprehensive diagnostic intake assessment to determine the best therapeutic programme to meet their recovery goals.

Our foundation programme is an immersive recovery building process that requires a minimum commitment of 4 hours a week and is centred around intensive work in your weekly individual and group sessions on a range of 12 step and psycho-educational topics to fit your care plan.

The Process of Detoxification

The detox process helps patients access tailored treatment that respects their needs. This process includes three steps:
  • Evaluation
The SBK staff will assess each patient individually to determine if an inpatient or medical detox referral is necessary.
  • Stabilization
If an inpatient detox is found necessary Stockholm beroendeklinik will help facilitate the detox phase with referral to our sister facilities in Scotland and Ireland. For an outpatient medical detox, we will refer to one of our trusted partners in the area.
  • Preparing for Entering into Treatment
The final step of detox focuses on preparing the customized treatment programme. Rehab experts familiarize the patients with the entire treatment process while making sure they are motivated to continue the recovery process.

Side Effects of Detox

The process of substance detox can take time and it is recommended that people with addiction to be supervised during the entire process. Detox with medical supervising allows patients to get rid of toxins from their bodies in a secure and comfortable environment. During this process, patients may still experience side effects:
  • Body discomfort
  • Nervousness or anxiety
  • Insomnia
  • NauseaIrascibility
  • Disrupted sleep patterns
  • Difficulty concentrating

Life After Detox

Detox is an essential first part of the rehab treatment, but it is not enough for a patient to fully recover. People with dependency also need to address the psychological issues that led to their addiction. They can attend support groups or one-on-one therapy sessions. FAQ

How Long Does Rehab Last?

Typical addiction treatment plans last from 30, 45, 60, or 90 days depending on the type of dependency. Depending on the type of programme you choose, you may spend more or less time in rehab.

During the inpatient programme, you stay in the recovery centre for the duration of your treatment, while outpatient programmes allow you to come to the centre only when you are scheduled for therapy and treatment. Inpatient programmes keep patients away from addictive habits allowing healing to take place in a substance-free environment.

Outpatient programmes are more suited for patients who need to take care of their career and home life.

What our customers say

Jackie
"I arrived at Castle Craig completely broken, physically, mentally and emotionally. I honestly thought I had gone past being healed after relapsing after 10 years of sobriety. The staff at CC were dedicated to helping me as soon as I entered the building. The kindness and skills of all the staff here are what I can only describe as truly amazing. My boyfriend sadly passed away from alcoholism whilst I was at CC and the staff got my through some of my darkest days to date."
